Hanover/Hasloch, 27 April, 2018
During this week, over thousands of interested trade visitors and decision-makers flocked to Lower Saxony for the Hanover Fair, the major global Industry 4.0 hotspot. Over the five days, the 2018 leading trade fair presented the current trends and innovations in artificial intelligence under the motto “Connect and Collaborate” – with the contribution of around 5,000 exhibitors from over 75 countries.

Kurtz Eisenguss GmbH & Co. KG was also represented in Hanover in 2018: Presenting two exhibits at Industrial Supply, the leading international fair for innovative supply solutions and lightweight construction, the team demonstrated its competence in the manufacturing of moulded parts with workpiece weights of up to 8,000 kg. In the last four years, Kurtz Eisenguss has implemented many technology and process optimisation measures: processes have been streamlined, allowing both individual parts and series with larger lots to be delivered in the shortest of time and at the highest quality. It has become possible to cast all alloys in EN-GJL and EN-GJS. Specifically, under the motto “Shaping the Future together”, Kurtz Eisenguss presented a 436 kg-light planetary carrier of the company Moventas. Executed in GJS 700-2, and at a height of 700 mm, it proved a first-class lead-in to stimulating discussions on the topic of hand moulding. A further highlight which attracted enormous visitor interest was a 4,000 kg cylinder with the dimensions 2,000 x 1,820 x 1,820 mm (l x w x h). The cylinder was manufactured in GJL 200 for the customer Aerzen, and is used in blowers for steel works.
Overall, it can be stated that the market situation in cast iron has been nicely busy in recent months. A look at future prospects also proves consistently positive. It has been possible to further increase the degree of iron foundry capacity utilisation and the productivity measures instigated have evidently gained traction. After five intensive days at the fair in Lower Saxony’s capital, the team drew a positive balance, returning to the Main Spessart region with specific inquires to be transformed in the following weeks into orders for complex hand-moulded iron casting for machine engineering and shipbuilding as well as the wind energy sector.
