After the appointment in Bangalore earlier this week, the Ersa Caravan moved on to the Bay of Bengal. Chennai in Eastern India, formerly Madras, has been an important port for trade with Southeast Asia for centuries and is now the heart of the Indian automotive industry. More than 90% of the automotive suppliers are located here, around 50% of all vehicles “made in India” are produced in Chennai. This was reflected in the 40 participants of the seminar – 18 different companies were counted, half of them suppliers to the local automotive industry.

The technical discussion quickly focused on quality improvement. The use of POWERFLOW N2 and soldering under N2 atmosphere results in considerably fewer scabies with continuous quality. The focus of the selective soldering technology was the VERSAFLOW 4 with flex crucible, which perfectly meets the typical requirement profile of high flexibility with medium quantities. Alternatively, production islands with one to two ECOSELECT machines, where the operator performs the electrical tests, are also conceivable. Further requirements are repair or subsequent soldering of missing components. The focus of the presentation was on rework, selective and wave soldering, highlights included the live connection to the Wertheim demo center and the demonstration of the HR 600/2 rework system directly in front of the event room. “It was also evident in Chennai that the path taken to technology seminars in India leads to success,” said Ersa General Sales Manager Rainer Krauss.
