With its series of webinars on selected topics in electronics production, which started on April 8, system supplier Ersa expanded its range of services – and despite travel and contact restrictions, the company continued to stay in touch with customers and interested parties. The response was overwhelming – the first advertised dates were fully booked within a very short time, as were the additional dates offered at short notice. The Ersa concept of providing online insights into the soldering processes and offering an ideal complement to products and processes for optimum performance was thus completely successful. The limited group size enabled all participants to address detailed questions to the experts.

More than 2,500 participants have so far logged in to the online presentations, with participants from the DACH region, Europe, Asia, India and America also attending. “Our Ersa webinars were designed centrally in terms of content, but thanks to our close contacts with the subsidiaries, we were able to respond individually to the respective market conditions,” explains Laura Drach, Ersa Project Engineer Sales. The topic “Fluxes: water-based vs. alcohol-based” kicked off the event and presented VOC-free, water-based fluxes for wave and selective soldering – a 100% alternative to the isopropanol-based fluxes that were reserved for medical applications at the time.

Furthermore, “Selective Mini Wave Soldering: Technological Possibilities” showed how multiple requirements can be transformed into powerful electronics – from fingernail-sized sensor boards to high-layer multilayers and power electronics with 400 and more amperes. The third webinar, titled “Defects in the printing process and their consequences in the SMT line”, examined stencil printing from all sides and defined the goal of zero error rate and high first pass yield. The “Challenges: Reflow and Vacuum Process” focused on the vacuum chamber and the achievement of optimum soldering quality by avoiding voiding and mastering process complexity. The webinar “Industry 4.0: Connectivity and Digital Solutions” presented modular approaches that lead to digitalization and expansion of existing processes. The last webinar for the time being on soldering systems was the paid webinar on the subject of “Soldering defects and their causes in wave and selective soldering”, which was excellently accepted with three dates at the beginning of July.

Finally the Ersa soldering tools rounded off the webinar offer with their triple tools trilogy on the topics of “Hand soldering – First Steps”, “The soldering workstation – useful equipment” and “The core of a soldering iron – the right soldering tip, selection and care”. The webinar “Budget-oriented rework – rework and repair of electronic assemblies” is still scheduled for mid-July. The online version is thus a valuable addition to the live demos and know-how seminars, which are now once again being held on a regular basis in compliance with increased hygiene standards. “With the Ersa webinars, we are once again offering our customers real added value, underlining the future orientation of the Ersa business and at the same time strengthening individual production on the customer side,” says Ersa´s General Sales Manager Rainer Krauss.
