China is always good for a surprise – Productronica Shanghai is an offshoot of the fair in Munich where, increasingly, EMS suppliers, PCB producers, automation and robotics well as the semi-conductors are represented. Once again, the Asian Productronica in the sprawling metropolis of Shanghai, which took place from 14 to 16 March, was marked by narrow aisles, jostling crowds and a babel of languages. System supplier Ersa has been taking part in the fair for three years now – this year, the Ersa stand was positively overrun. The whole programme was in enormous demand, with crowds of visitors congregating around all the machinery and systems. “Wave soldering technology is currently experiencing enormous popularity due to the 5G communication networks to be installed for the future mobile phone standard. With the greatest possible throughput, and the highest ‘first pass yield performance’, our POWERFLOW wave soldering plant meets all the demands of our customers and potential buyers,” was how Ersa General Sales Manager, Rainer Krauss, who was attending the fair, described the Chinese market in which Ersa is already market leader with the VERSAFLOW 3/45 und VERSAFLOW 4/55 series. As best-practice examples in video clip form, a number of EMS service providers showed the Ersa VERSAFLOW as an inherent part of their manufacturing process, thus promoting the quality it produces.

Shanghai also saw the market launch of the new Ersa VERSAPRINT 2 stencil printer and the presentation of the HOTFLOW 3/26 N2. In its Chinese plant, Ersa is now producing six different HOTFLOW reflow soldering systems for the Chinese/Asian market. The appeal of the tools was also enormous, with the rework and hand soldering devices, the Ersa solder fume extraction units (EASY ARM) and the inspection systems (ERSASCOPE) constantly surrounded by eager crowds. Interest in the semi-automatic rework systems from the HR 550 and HR 600/2 series is still going through the roof. “A new feature is the increased interest in VOIDLESS rework, which we also presented at the fair, along with optic BGA inspection by means of ERSASCOPE,” said the highly-satisfied Ersa General Sales Manager. With its unmistakeable design, the fair stand could always be identified as belonging to Ersa GmbH, despite the crowds – as the only manufacturer worldwide to do so, Ersa opts for a uniform overall image encompassing everything from the Ersa subsidiaries to process and service support. The next opportunity to see the Ersa technologies up close in China is NEPCON Shanghai from 24 to 27 April.
