Open Days at SMANS

As always or everything new? Some of the 80 visitors asked themselves this question before or during the three days of the Open Days at SMANS. About a year ago, the Belgian Ersa representative Norbert Smans went into well-deserved retirement. In this context, however, he made sure that his company would continue to exist and get off to a successful start. SMANS has the best conditions after the long-time employees Nick Janssens, Jan Van Lieshout and Aad Vermaat took over the company. So everything as it was? Yes – as usual, no effort was spared to present the complete product range. The visitors were presented with placement machines, inspection systems, dispensers, storage systems and the entire Ersa range in full functionality.

On the tools side Dietmar Wolpert presented HR 600, HR 550, ERSASCOPE 2 and the complete portfolio of the soldering stations, the part of the Ersa machines were covered by Lothar Rodemers and Wolfram Hübsch – where they also actually produced. Assemblies provided by the customer were soldered on a VERSAFLOW 4/55 selective soldering system, an SMT assembly was printed on the VERSAPRINT Ultra³ stencil printer and verified by means of an integrated 100% 3D inspection. After assembly, the PCB was finally reflow soldered in a HOTFLOW 4/20. All in all an extremely varied mix of production machines and tools, which an interested audience was able to view in a relaxed environment. Tents set up in the entrance area served for culinary well-being and as a location for the evening event on 19 September. So everything was as it was – or maybe even a bit bigger. Customers liked it and the new chefs drew a successful balance from the three days. Ersa Area Manager Tom Berx was also very satisfied, as two machines could be sold directly in Turnhout.
