Adipic acid
This carbonic acid is frequently used in fluxes as an activator. Its characteristic lies in the (-COOH) group(s). It reacts in the presence of temperature with metal oxides and converts these into metall. With this reaction, oxides resting on the surface of the areas to be soldered are removed and the liquid solder can react with the pure metall.
