Solder Depot

The amount of molten solder available on the pad or on the lead of the component to be soldered. In the SMT process, the solder is applied with a solder paste printer and melted in the subsequent reflow process. Solder depots are required for those soldering processes, where no solder can be added during the soldering process itself. An example would be hot bar soldering.
