Wetting force
When a wettable material specimen is immersed in liquid solder, it is normally wetted by the solder. During vertical extraction of the sample from the solder, a further force in addition to the mass weight of the specimen has to be overcome, a force, that attempts to retain the specimen in the liquid solder. This force is measured on a wetting balance, and is designated as wetting force. A wetting balance is frequently also referred to as meniscograph.
