Zinc

Zinc is a bluish white, ignoble metal of the group of transition metals. In the field of electronics, zinc is used as component in solder alloys (for example, Sn91Zn9, Sn89Zn8Bi3). Because of their strong tendency to oxidize, these alloys are mainly used in the form of solder paste used in SMT processes. In machine building, zinc is used as a weather resistant protective layer, since, reacting with oxygen, it will form on a surface a very stable layer of zinc oxides and zinc carbonate.
