Litmash: Russia remains important market

Litmash 2019 took place in Moscow from 14 to 17 May together with Tube Russia and Metallurgy. Numerous foundry companies from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) presented their new developments, talked to existing customers about ongoing projects and expanded their network in the Russian-speaking market. Kurtz GmbH was also represented by colleagues from the Kurtz Moscow branch and from project planning in Germany. Although it is a small trade fair, Litmash is an important date for the foundry industry in the CIS states. Thus, there were also substantial dialogues with discussion partners from sectors such as aviation, medical technology and automotive, who had well-founded specialist knowledge of casting processes and the foundry industry and approached the Kurtz stand team with concrete enquiries and projects.

In the automotive industry in particular, there were numerous other focal points in addition to engine construction that were inquired about. It should be mentioned that in addition to aluminium casting – used primarily for safety-relevant parts such as chassis and engine parts and for pressure-tight components with the highest load requirements in vacuum, hydraulic and high-voltage technology – there was also great interest in the magnesium casting process. “It is very important to remain present in the CIS region. Recently, the market has taken a leap forward and we expect that low-pressure technology with lost sand moulds and chill moulds will continue to gain in importance both in Russia and in neighbouring countries. There will also be increased demand for complete casting lines in these target markets. We are therefore delighted with such good feedback at the trade fair and will now be planning projects with interested parties,” said Lothar Hartmann, Head of Profit Center Foundry Machinery.
